The centre of every vertical build, and the heart of what we do. We'll match the crane to the pour schedule, the site footprint and the budget — and because we also supply ASCOREL anti-collision, we can plan several cranes over one site from day one.
ZOOMLION's tower crane range runs from flat-top to luffing jib to hydraulic luffing — the newer hydraulic machines working as a luffer, or as a flat-top with the jib brought horizontal, off one crane. It is a serious line: the same manufacturer builds the W12000-450, the largest top-slewing tower crane in the world.

Choosing the crane
Three questions decide which crane your site needs.
Most of the people we quote are running a project, not specifying machinery. The choice is more straightforward than the terminology suggests, and we will walk you through it either way.
Flat-top
The most economical option and the quickest to erect, with nothing standing above the jib. It also allows two cranes to work over one another on a constrained site. Suitable for the majority of projects.
Luffing jib
The jib raises rather than extending horizontally, keeping the load within your own airspace. The usual choice for downtown sites, rail corridors and occupied neighbouring buildings.
Hydraulic luffing The one to ask about
The current generation does both — the jib raises where clearance is tight and works horizontally where it is not. One machine for the duration, rather than a changeover mid-project.
The one people get wrong
Two cranes' worth of duty, from one machine.
A conventional luffing jib is raised and lowered on a rope and winch, and it stays a luffer for the life of the job. A hydraulic luffing crane raises the jib on a ram instead — and ZOOMLION's machines will also work with the jib brought horizontal, as a flat-top.
For a contractor that matters in one specific way: the site that needs a luffer for its first phase, and the reach of a flat-top for its second, no longer needs two rentals and a changeover.
- One machine
- Luffing duty where the airspace is tight, flat-top duty where it is not. No second mobilisation, no crane swap in the middle of a programme.
- No tower head
- Nothing standing above the slew, so overall height stays down where a height restriction or an approach path is in play.
- Fewer ropes
- The jib is carried on a ram rather than a luffing rope and winch — one less rope system to inspect and maintain over a long build.

What the specifications mean on site
- Jib length
- The working radius from the mast. A 70 m jib covers most city blocks, which means one crane position can service the full footprint of a pour.
- Tip load
- Capacity at maximum radius. Every crane lifts more close in and less at full reach, so the tip figure is the one to size your heaviest outer lift against.
- Free-standing height
- How high the crane stands before it must be tied into the structure. A greater free-standing height means fewer ties, less associated structural work and a simpler review with your engineer.
